DOULA

BULA DOULA
BULA - (pronounced boo-lah) is a Fijian word that means “life.” As a birth doula, I carry this word as a guiding light—celebrating the miracle of new life and supporting families through one of the most transformative journeys they’ll ever experience. Bula is more than a greeting; it is a blessing of health, vitality, and joy. In my work, it reflects the sacredness of birth, the power of presence, and the reminder that every new beginning deserves to be honored with love and care.
DOULA - a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Unlike medical providers, doulas do not perform clinical tasks. Instead, they focus on creating a nurturing environment, offering comfort measures, and helping families feel confident and supported in their choices. During labor, a doula may assist with breath-work, positioning, massage, and advocacy, while also holding space for emotional well-being.

While a birth doula does not provide medical care, their presence has been shown to improve birth outcomes, such as reducing the likelihood of cesarean delivery, decreasing the use of pain medications, and increasing overall satisfaction with the birth experience.
